A History of Restorations

Over the past 29 years we have restored well over 3000 rocking horses, a few from the early 1800’s. We have gained an immense amount of knowledge and can now identify most makes and the date of manufacture. It is therefore easy for us to return an old rocking horse back to its original design, undoing previously ’well meaning’ restoration attempts thus restoring its value as an antique. We always recommend keeping the original paint if the rocking horse has it. We have in the past striped off the outer new layers of paint to reveal the beautiful original dappling.

We operate a "restoration sympathetique" service which means we do not turn a lovely old horse into one that looks brand new.
